Gran Sasso – Appenines - Abruzzo
Difference in height, grandeur of space and weather conditions made special by the proximity of the sea, make the Gran Sasso some sort of middle ground between the Dolomites and the high mountains.
A massive limestone along nearly eighteen miles, that runs from west to east, characterized by steep and almost inaccessible areas, jagged rocks, pinnacles and ridges, broad valleys and secluded , thickly forested zones other more rare.
The most interesting mountaineering section is the central one, which rise on the Corno Grande ( 2912m ), the highest peak of the Apennines and the Corno Piccolo.
A set of itineraries of great interest: aesthetic and historical value, short approaches and height of walls, make it a must for fans of climbing, not to miss.
